Lately, I've been in a 70s movie mood. Specifically, I've had this thing lately about wanting to watch Looking for Mr. Goodbar. It's actually not out on DVD, but I didn't know this, so tonight we stopped by the video store to pick it up. Obviously, it's not fluffy happy 70s I'm after here, but something else entirely.
It's actually, specifically, Looking for Mr. Goodbar that I want to see for some reason that I can't quite explain, but when we couldn't find it,
Shampoo was my second choice. It was also unavailable so I suggested that we just come home and watch our own copy of
Saturday Night Fever, because when I get in this 70s movie mood, a 70s movie is all that's going to do it for me.
A few days ago, however, Tracy had suggested that I might like an 80s horror comedy called
Fright Night. He knows that I only like horror movies if they are psychologically frightening but not gory or campy but not gory. Instead of leaving Premier Video empty handed, we checked and sure enough, there was Fright Night. It was a dollar rental, so we brought it home.
Oh, it was a dollar well spent.
Ah, "Fright Night" ... I rented that movie on the evening of May 28, 1987 while in Sandusky, Ohio, on a trip with an assortment of band members from MHS, and proceeded to subject the rest of the gang to watch this movie that evening. Everyone appeared to enjoy it. It is probably more frightening the fact that I remember the exact date that I saw a movie, 21 years ago ...
